Staying safe and protected from the Coronavirus while wearing your 925 Sterling Silver jewelry is easier to do than you think.

Adapting to the new "normal" amidst the Pandemic
The Coronavirus has certainly disrupted all our lives, and the way we live and do things! Most certainly, it has impacted the shipping industry and delayed the lead times for non-medical goods. We've all had to adapt to the so called - "new normal", that is, washing hands, maintaining social distancing, and frequent sanitizing of frequently touched surfaces. So while we've been diligent to care for these things, have we been exercising the same diligence when it comes to our Sterling Silver jewelry?

For instance, we may ask, just HOW LONG can the Coronavirus survive on our jewelry?
According to the Insider, the Coronavirus can survive on stainless steel surfaces for up to 72 hours, and on metal surfaces at room temperature for up to five days! What a nightmare!

To be safe, don't wear your jewelry everyday!
So what does this mean if we wear our silver jewelry every day? Well, for one thing...that's NOT a really good idea! Why not?

Because, constant washing of our hands can leads to our jewelry becoming oxidised much faster. Additionally, some chemicals, example alcohol, found in hand sanitizers can actually damage/crack our sterling silver jewelry and any gemstones they may contain!
Tested and tried methods for cleaning jewelry will do the trick
So what can we do to clean our jewelry in the instance we really want to wear them during this pandemic?
The safest methods by far remains cleaning with a mild soap, warm water, and using a soft bristled toothbrush to remove stubborn dirt and grime. Other home remedies includes using a soft cloth and toothpaste or just use a good old-fashioned silver anti-tarnish/polishing cloth.
Another good idea would be to give your jewelry a sun bath- that is, leave them in the direct sunlight for a few seconds, just to be on the safe side, since some researchers say that UV rays can help fight against the virus and other germs.
By being responsible and exercising due diligence, along with moderate usage of our silver babies, we can continue to enjoy our sterling silver jewelry AND protect ourselves from unwittingly contracting the Coronavirus.
