Don't let ordering rings online phase you! It's more simple than you think!

Don't you just hate it when you come across the most exquisite, drop-dead gorgeous piece of jewelry, only to find out AFTER you bought it, that it's the WRONG size?!
To prevent common mistakes like this from happening it's often best to get your fingers sized often! Additionally, it's also good to double check your vendor's ring size information, if available, just to ensure that they are indeed using standard ring sizes and not custom ring sizes. Furthermore, we need to measure our fingers often because our finger size changes often!
Finger size can often change
Finger sizes often change because of your diet, weather outside, and time of day. So one minute it may be one size, but then another hour or so later, it may be a different size. For instance, if the weather is cold outside, or it's early in the morning, your fingers will actually be SMALLER. Additionally, bear in mind that if you are right handed, the fingers on your right hand will actually be slightly larger than the fingers on your left and vice versa.
Measuring your ring size at home
The best way to measure your ring size is to have a professional jeweler size it for you. Or, you can purchase a ring sizer online (some cost about US$2 and less).
However, what if you're about to make an immediate ring purchase and don't have the time to visit a jeweler or purchase a ring sizer? Then don't fret! There is still something you can do! Using just TWO (2) basic items in your home, you can measure your ring size with a good degree of accuracy.
Using a thread and a ruler can result in a fairly accurate ring size measurement
Firstly, use a thread (or any string laying around) and use it to measure the circumference of your finger...that is, measure AROUND your finger. Then, use a ruler to find out the measurement in millimeters (mm). If your ruler doesn't measure in mm but in centimeters (cm), then remember, 1cm = 10mm. Then COMPARE the size you measured to a ring size chart, like the one shown below:

But, what IF your size is larger than the ones shown here? Then check out this other chart:

To use this chart, you would need to find the DIAMETER of your ring size circumference...that means you divide the circumference by 3.14. The answer you get in mm would be your ring size. (You will need a calculator for this additional step).
Measure your finger at least three (3) times to ensure that your readings are accurate.
There are other at-home methods that you can also try, but these involve using a printer. The link to this Youtube video (click on the highlighted text) is highly recommended.
Now that you know how to size your fingers why not try these suggestions out and see what you come up with!
